Just a Thought | Lost

Is it just me, or does January seem to be absolutely endless?

I'm not supposed to care, I know, since I'm on break,

but it's like I feel a little lost.

I have no clue what to do with all this time on my hands.

I mostly just sleep in and watch tv,

which is not at all how I imagined I would be spending my break.

I thought I'd be reading novels, 

baking lots,

crocheting new things,

doing lots of DIYs.

I only have a week left,

and from now on I will strive to make the most of my break.

Although I'll probably still sleep in and watch too much tv.

I did get a little project checked off my list today.

I've been looking for a way to organize my long necklaces for 

quite a while,

and yesterday I found the perfect way.

Today, hubs drilled a couple of holes in the wall,

et voilá.

Aren't they precious?!

December | Presents

I was going to write a post about my thoughts on this Christmas,

but I can't find the words. 

This year's Christmas was different somehow,

but I can't figure out how to explain it.

Maybe I'll do a post on it later.

This year our presents weren't all that big,

since we mostly wished for money so we could buy new furniture

for our livingroom. 

I searched high and low for pictures of how our livingroom looked before,

but I couldn't find any.

I know I have some somewhere, 

but they're hiding from me somewhere clever.

Of course we were too eager to take a 'before' picture

when putting up the new furniture, 

so now you have to settle for the 'after' pictures.

We love how our livingroom looks now.

Normally our table isn't that fancy, 

but I had my brother, parents, in-laws, uncle+wife, and grandparents

over for coffee yesterday, since it's my birthday tomorrow.

I made lots of little cakes, and they turned out great,

although I was really worried about my gingerbread house.

It was a bit too soft, so it was slowly caving in when we put it together,

but it held!

Today is all about cleaning up and taking down the Christmas decorations,
and getting ready to celebrate New Year's Eve with good friends.

Home Decor | Pictures

Our livingroom used to be the other way around, 

with the dining table where the couch and tv are now, 

but even though it's been almost 6 months sinced we switched it around

we still hadn't gotten the pictures on the wall switched around.

Until this saturday. 

A couple of months ago we had ordered a large canvas with 2 of our

wedding pictures on, and I wanted to hang it over the couch,

along with some smaller wedding pictures.

Job done.

Home Makeover | IKEA ftw

About a week ago I mentioned we were at IKEA to get a solution

for our messy bedroom. 

THIS is what the chaos looked like pre-IKEA.

Not very pretty, and it collected tons of dust. 

Annoying. 

Here's our, now beautiful, organized bedroom:

It looks so much better, it works better, there's almost no dust.

It's BRILLIANT!

Organizing | Ikea

Don't you just love IKEA?

I think everyone does!

Sure, it may mostly be junk, but it's CHEAP junk.

Who doesn't like cheap junk!?

We were at IKEA today, to get some stuff for organizing 

the chaos in the bedroom.

It's not completely finished and organized,

but I'll show you pictures when we're done in a couple of days.

Something I can show you is this pretty amazing hanger for scarfs:

I've seen it at IKEA before, but haven't thought to buy it.

Why, I really don't know, since all my scarfs have always

been a mess all over the place.

With this thing they're easy to keep track off.

(Even if you have lots, like I do)

Home decor | Reading nook

Last week we went to my favourite thrift store and got ourselves a chair. It's a beautiful golden-green chair, and it fits perfectly into the corner of our livingroom.

I've wanted to put the pictures up for quite some time, and we finally got around to it today. The big empty frame will eventually be filled with little pictures on string. 

I love how this corner turned out, and I can't wait to curl up in this chair with a blanket and a good book.

Home Decor | Computer table

About a week ago we spent some days re-doing our livingroom and moving the furniture around. As a result there were a few things that didn't fit anymore, and we ended up with an empty space, as well as in need of some extra storage space. 

My parents held the answer in their basement, and they came by sunday for some afternoon coffee, and they brought this marvellous piece of furniture with them:

The drawers are great for tablecloths, candles, and what-not, and it also works as my new computer table. I absolutely love it. 

While I snapped a couple of pictures of our new piece of furniture, Obelix decided to wreak havoc on his chair. 

How can you not love him?
